Group training in PT Distinction is powerful, flexible, and incredibly easy to set up. Whether you’re coaching multiple clients with similar goals or running group challenges, this walkthrough shows how to deliver an exceptional group experience with minimal effort.

How to Set Up Group Training in PT Distinction

Step 1: Create a New Group

  1. Go to the Groups tab.
  2. Click the green Add button.
  3. Name your group (e.g., Group Training) and hit Add.

You now have a dedicated group space where you can manage and deliver all group-related content.

Step 2: Add Content to Your Group

Inside your Group Dashboard, click the green Add button to begin building out your program. You can add:

Coaching Content

  • Programs
  • Assessments
  • Habits
  • Nutrition coaching
  • Lifestyle coaching
  • Meal plans

Tracking & Forms

  • Results tracking
  • Forms and questionnaires (e.g., PAR-Q, medical questionnaires, consultation forms)
  • Create your own custom forms as needed

Tools

  • Food diary
  • Progress photos
  • Adherence charts

Communication

  • Emails, text messages, and app messages
  • Fully pre-scheduled communication sequences

Events

  • Add any scheduled events such as check-ins or virtual sessions

Step 3: Manage and Review Group Content

Once you’ve scheduled your content, you can review it all easily:

  • Schedule View: Choose week, month, or year views to see what’s coming up
  • Items: View all programs, coaching content, forms, and tracking individually
  • Tools: Check availability and usage for progress tools
  • Communication: Review everything you’ve scheduled for the group

Step 4: Enable Group Chat

Want to create a shared communication space for group members?

  • Scroll to the chat thread
  • Search for your group
  • Toggle group chat ON

Now, all group members can message each other via the app in a group chat format.

Step 5: Track Activity and Results

The Group Activity Feed gives you real-time insight into what your group members are doing:

  • See updates whenever clients record results or complete tasks
  • Get visual summaries through dashboard widgets

You also get access to leaderboards showing performance across:

  • Programs completed
  • Results tracking
  • Habits achieved

You control visibility—share the leaderboard in chat or keep it private depending on your coaching style.

Step 6: Add Clients to the Group

To populate your group:

  1. Click Add Member
  2. Choose clients manually, by group, or select All Clients
  3. Confirm and add

All scheduled content and programming will instantly be copied into each client’s account.

You can also:

  • Add new clients to the group as they sign up
  • Link the group to a pre-built package for automated enrollment
