Time-Saving Tips for Program Writing in PT Distinction (Part 2)

There are so many time-saving features in PT Distinction that we had to make a second post! If you missed it, check out Part 1 of our program writing time-savers before diving into this guide.

In this post, we’ll show you even more ways to save time while building high-quality training programs for your clients.

Bulk Edit Sets, Reps, Time, and Tempo in One Click

Instead of editing each exercise manually, you can update an entire section’s variables at once:

  1. Go to the three dots next to the section name.
  2. Click All Sets/Reps.
  3. Enter values for sets, reps, rest, tempo, or anything else.
  4. Leave any fields blank if you don’t want them applied.

The system will apply your entries across every exercise in that section. From there, you can tweak any individual item if needed.

Build Circuits with Drag and Drop

Creating a circuit is super quick:

  • Simply click and drag across the exercises you want to group.
  • The circuit is built instantly.
  • To unlink the exercises, click at the bottom of the grouped section—done.

This makes building supersets, tri-sets, or full circuits fast and frustration-free.

Swap Exercises Without Losing Your Settings

Normally, changing an exercise would mean re-entering your variables. Not here.

With PT Distinction:

  1. Click Swap Exercise.
  2. Choose a replacement from your library.
  3. All the sets, reps, tempo, and rest values stay intact.

You can still adjust them if needed, but this saves you from repeating yourself.

Add Custom Exercises with Video and Metrics

If PT Distinction doesn’t already have the exercise you want:

  1. Start typing the name—if it’s not found, you’ll be prompted to add a custom exercise.
  2. Enter a name and optionally:
    • Paste a YouTube or Vimeo URL
    • Add custom metrics

The video will be embedded directly into your program ad-free, with a clean, professional look.

This means your exercise library is virtually limitless, and adding new content is quick and easy.
