How to Build Your First Training Program in PT Distinction

In this guide based on PTD Flow Video 3, we’ll show you how to quickly build your first training program for a client inside PT Distinction. The process is simple, intuitive, and packed with powerful time-saving tools.

Step 1: Access the Client Dashboard

To get started, go to your client’s dashboard.

  • Click the green Add button.
  • Select Program.
  • Choose Create New, then name your program and hit Save.

This takes you into the Program Builder, where you can start designing your workouts.

Step 2: Build Your Workout Sections

Start by naming your first section—for example, Warmup.

Add Exercises with Smart Search

  • Begin typing the exercise name into the search box.
  • The smart search allows partial names and returns relevant matches instantly.
  • Alternatively, click Browse Exercises to search by category if you’re unsure of the name.

To add exercises:

  • Simply click on the one you want, and it will be inserted into your program.

Add More Sections

You can add multiple sections to structure your workout:

  • For example, after your warm-up, create a section titled Main Workout.
  • Continue using the search or browse options to populate your session.

Step 3: Add Workouts, Sets, and Reps

You can also add multiple workouts to your program:

  • Click Add a Workout to include more sessions.

Add Sets and Reps

There are two easy ways to add sets and reps:

  • Click directly into the fields and enter manually.
  • Or, use the three dots menu in the section and select All Sets/Reps to bulk edit—an excellent time-saving feature.

You can still tweak individual exercises as needed after bulk input.

Step 4: Create Supersets and Circuits

To make supersets or circuits:

  • Use the Build Circuit option.
  • Drag and drop exercises into your desired order.
  • To unlink, simply click again and move items as needed.

This gives you complete control over structure and flow.

Step 5: Save Your Program

Once you’re happy with your training plan:

  • Click Save, and your program is ready to go.
